Home for the Holidays? 4 Things to Look for While Visiting Senior Loved Ones

Read More » Today’s blog installment recognizes and honors the unsung heroes of Willow Brook. To be sure, Willow Brook is full of teammates who, by their presence, compassion, and work ethic keep the heart of our ministry beating. We are grateful for each and every one!
Sometimes, though, our teammates behind-the-scenes do not seem to get the same recognition and celebration. Yet without them, Willow Brook is not Willow Brook. I am talking about our housekeeping staff, laundry staff, maintenance team, personal care attendants, resident companions, and culinary line cooks and dishwashers. Without these folks, Willow Brook would be a very different place—and not in a good way.
Most of these staff members do day-to-day work that is tiring, tedious, repetitive, emotionally and physically taxing, and even dirty. They have jobs that plenty of us would go out of our way to avoid. Washing dirty laundry all day – and then folding it…doing load after load of dishes in an already hot and busy kitchen…breaking down and setting up chairs and tables, multiple times a day…cleaning toilets and carpet stains and emptying bag after bag of trash…you get the picture. Day after day, these folks show up, many with a spirit of service and even joy for the work they do. Why? A good paycheck is vital, yes. But many work here because they love their job, they care about their co-workers and the residents, and they feel good about being part of a not-for-profit organization with a mission rooted in love.
So thank you, unsung heroes. You are seen, you are cared for. Your contributions make a world of difference every single day to our residents and to our organization. We may not say that enough, but we should. Your work is so important and we cannot take it for granted. Time and time again, you prove what so many of us know: you are driven to help and to provide services and skills that few choose. You ARE the difference…and that difference is love.

Yes we do appreciate them and for the work they do for us and for many of the things we either don’t want to do or can’t do. Thank you, Thank you, Grace
Every one, admin, staff, and residents are angels sent down from GOD for a specific purpose unknown to them. All 3 groups, 1 and all, top to bottom, have been in my prayers since 1988.
