Babbling Brook readers, we have a call to action for you this week, and we hope you’ll take us up on it. This Friday, February 17, is Random Acts of Kindness Day. It’s a day, for—you guessed it—performing random acts of kindness. In a world where kindness seems to be an afterthought, and vitriol is commonplace, kindness is not only a holy act but an act of resistance!
Your challenge this Friday, should you decide to accept it, is to spread kindness, as much as possible. We’ve included two tables of ideas below to give you some inspiration. Spoiler alert: being kind feels good! It is a beautiful way to put more joy into the world, small act by small act creating a ripple of kind acts. Just imagine if we got into the habit of being kind every day? Even just one act of kindness a day can change the world!
The beautiful thing about performing an act of kindness is that it is an equal-opportunity proposition: from young kids to seasoned elders and everyone in between. If you choose to be kind this Friday, we would love to hear about what you chose to do; please share with us in the comments! Or, perhaps you were the recipient of a kind act—what was it? Do you know who did it? Let’s see what kind of great stories we can fill our comment board with.
Now—go forth and be kind! The world needs more kindness, and it starts with you.
