At Willow Brook, learning is a lifelong endeavor, and takes many forms. Sure, there are lectures, guest speakers, and group discussions. But there is also reading, music, making new friends, outings, private study, brain games, physical activity, and the act of simply trying something new. All of these things are an important part of Willow Brook’s culture and residential life.
That is why, in the spirit of staying curious, the Babbling Brook is so excited to recommend the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) at Ohio Wesleyan University, which commences (in-person!) October 3, 2022. This six-week “semester” of courses taught by professors, practitioners, and volunteers on the Ohio Wesleyan campus lets you enroll in courses of interest to you in a non-competitive environment. The best part? No grades!
Sure, you could take just one course, but you might as well take more—the $75 registration fee pays for as many LLI courses you wish to take during the six-week run, so err on the side of getting your money’s worth! (If $75 is a hardship, there are a limited number of $50 scholarships available from SourcePoint which can help offset the majority of the cost. The Lifelong Learning Institute has become a bit of a Willow Brook family affair since it began in 2019. Willow Brookers Bob & Mary Holm serve as the LLI steering committee co-chairs; crowd-favorite John Lindeboom, Willow Brook Director of Culinary Services, is a multi-year presenter; and scads of Willow Brook residents have attended classes. You’re never too old to be a student!
