Architectural Surprises

Picture this: you are walking down a long hallway – sometimes lined with doors, sometimes not. You come to the end of the hallway, turn right, and follow an identical hallway until you reach another, and another etc. The beige and browns of the wallpaper soon begin to blend together in your mind and you lose count of how many hallways you have walked – in fact, you lose track of where you are entirely and your mind begins to wander in an attempt to break up the boredom hovering over you like a cloud.

In contrast, imagine walking down a series of hallways, but the space in front of you suddenly opens into a vast room with a grand staircase. This type of architectural surprise is what you find if you wander the halls at any one of our three Willow Brook campuses.

With each expansion or construction of our three campuses, Larry Harris (CEO), and our other leaders met with architects, designers, and landscapers; the idea being to create spaces, whether indoor or outdoor, that split up the hallways or the normal square-like architecture of the building. These may be structures such as the staircase, or perhaps even hidden courtyards – hidden in the sense that they cannot be reached or seen from the outside of the building. For this week’s blog post, we at The Babbling Brook, would like to share with you a photo collection of some of these beautiful landscapes and unique architectural surprises at all three of our Willow Brook campuses.
